SaareGane - free 90s & 2000s Hindi songs online

SaareGane (saare gane, Hindi for “all the songs”) is a free Hindi music player for the songs most people mean when they say they miss old Bollywood: the decade and a half from Aashiqui in 1990 to the Bhatt-camp soundtracks of the mid 2000s. Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Sonu Nigam, Abhijeet and KK, plus the 90s indipop cassettes and a room of ghazals that reaches back further than any of it.

There are no advertisements, no radio, and no sign-up. You do not build a playlist here or search for a song. You pick a room that matches the evening, and the music follows. Nine rooms, 1,134 hand-picked songs, every one of them chosen and checked against the film and the year it actually came out.

Questions

Is SaareGane free?
Yes, completely. There is no subscription, no trial, no card, and no account. The player opens and plays. There are no advertisements between songs and no audio ads at all.
Do I need to sign up?
No. There is no login anywhere on the site. Favourites, volume and the sleep timer are kept in your own browser rather than in an account, which also means clearing your browser data clears them.
What music is on SaareGane?
Hindi film music, weighted heavily to 1990-2006, the era of Aashiqui, Saajan, Dilwale, Raja Hindustani, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Murder. There is also 90s indipop, ghazals reaching back to the fifties, and three rooms built around one performer each: Emraan Hashmi, Altaf Raja and KK.
What does "SaareGane" mean?
Saare gane is Hindi for "all the songs". It is also a pun on sa, re, ga, the first three notes of the sargam, which is the Indian solfege. Those three notes are what the three rising bars in the logo stand for.
Does SaareGane host the music?
No. Nothing is hosted here. The player streams from a public catalogue and every song stays with whoever owns it. What SaareGane adds is the curation: which songs, in which room, in which order.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. It is built for a phone first and can be added to a home screen, where it opens without browser chrome like an installed app. Audio keeps playing through a screen lock.
