SaareGane

Copyright & takedowns

SaareGane does not host, store or distribute any music. If something here is yours and should not be, one email removes it, and it will not come back.

What this site actually holds

No audio files. Nothing is uploaded here, stored here or served from here. What SaareGane holds is a list: song titles, the films they are from and the years those films came out, arranged into nine rooms. When you press play, the player asks a public catalogue for that recording and your browser streams it from that catalogue’s own servers. See privacy for the mechanics.

Every recording referred to on this site belongs to whoever owns it: the labels, composers, lyricists, singers, musicians and studios who made these records. SaareGane claims no rights in any of it and earns nothing from any of it. There are no advertisements on this site, nothing is sold, and there is no subscription.

What SaareGane does own

The artwork for the nine rooms, the writing on this site, the software itself, and the curation: which songs, in which room, in which order. The paintings in particular are original work made for this site and exist nowhere else.

Asking for something to be removed

You do not need a lawyer, a form or a formal notice. Write to saaregane@protonmail.com and say what should go. It helps if you include:

  • The song title and the film, or a link to the room it appears in.
  • Who you are, and what you own: the recording, the composition or the artwork.
  • Whether you are the rights holder or acting for one.

A good-faith request is not argued with. The line is removed from the list, the change ships, and it is not quietly restored later. Requests are read by a person, not a queue, and are normally actioned within a few days.

It is worth saying plainly what removal here does and does not do: taking a song out of this list takes it off this site. It does not remove the recording from the catalogue it actually lives on, because that is not this site’s to remove. For that, the catalogue’s own operator is the one to write to.

Corrections

The same address takes corrections, and they are as welcome as takedowns. A wrong year, a song credited to the wrong film, a singer misspelled, a room a record does not belong in: all of it is written by hand and all of it can be wrong. Being told is the only way it gets fixed.

No warranty

This is a free, independent project offered as it is. Rooms change, songs occasionally stop resolving when the upstream catalogue reorganises itself, and nothing here is promised to keep working. If something is broken, write in. That is genuinely how most of it gets found.
